Ninja Professional BL660 Professional Blender
If you have looked at the market, you probably know of Ninja’s blenders. My favorite among the options here is the BL660. True, it has been a while since its initial launch. Yet, it manages to secure its place in numerous restaurants.
First and foremost, it boasts an affordable price tag even after being capable of heavy, professional tasks. That’s one of the reasons people still love this puppy. But there’s more – its powerful motor, for one.
Grinding spices and making curry paste requires a decent chunk of power. This blender comes with a powerful 1100-watt motor to achieve the desired finesse, and it can even crush ice in an instant.
Thanks to that and the robust 6-blade assembly, it’s versatile enough to accomplish many tasks. However, it isn’t best suited for dry ingredients. While curry pastes are entirely fine, it might struggle with powders.
There are two options when it comes to size. The star of the show is the 72-oz. large pitcher, which can blend a large batch at once. It features Ninja’s Total Crushing Blades to crush everything in an instant (they can be loud too, but that’s expected).
Combined with the powerful motor, this pitcher works exceptionally well for anything from smoothies to curry pastes. There are two 16-oz single-serve pitchers, too, should you ever need them. All of these use plastic in the making.
That probably makes you wonder whether the materials are safe. To my pleasure, Ninja uses quality food-grade plastic to manufacture these parts. Hence, the plastics are BPA-free and ensure that there are no health risks.
Moving on to the ease of usage, I’d say that it could use some work. For example, when using its Total Crushing Blades, I had to detach the blades before taking the lid off. These tiny intricacies can take some getting used to, no doubt.
But once I Iot used to it, the whole thing became much easier to figure out. For controls, there are six buttons. There are three speed options for different blends, a pulse button, and another to utilize the single-serve cups. The last one is the power button.
Using the pulse button seemed pretty convenient, especially for curry pastes. The speed options also give the user sufficient legroom. And thanks to the flat user interface, I didn’t have to clean the debris every time I blended something.
Speaking of convenience, I didn’t need to break a sweat to clean the jars, as they’re dishwasher safe. Moreover, the base seemed effortless to clean up. All in all, I think it does a remarkable job when it comes to cleaning convenience.
Finally, the dimensions are 8 x 6 x 17 inches. Since this is a countertop blender, make sure that it fits into your setup beforehand. But that’s about it — the BL660 is a solid all-rounder that receives the thumbs-up from me.

While the previous product was on the affordable side of things, many of us might like something more inexpensive. Hence, the second product came forth on my list of best blenders for making curry paste. Guess the name, will you?
Once again, we resort to who else but the trusty Ninja? This time, it’s the BL610 from its professional series.
Let’s start with the base. This blender boasts a powerful 1000-watt motor. As expected, this machine can fulfill any task — making curry pastes, creating smoothies or purees, or grinding seemed effortless.
That’s not the only thing making this clock tick, of course. It uses Ninja’s proprietary Total Crushing Technology, combining its precision-engineered six-blade assembly to ensure a quick and consistent outcome.
Believe me, it’s not a gimmick. It did deliver on the promises. Making curry paste was a breeze, and the blend’s finesse was what I had wished for. During the trial, I found that the blades won’t work without the lid properly closed, which is an excellent safety measure.
Let’s talk a bit more about the user experience. Like the previous product, this one can be a bit daunting for total beginners. However, a bit of hands-on time solves that quickly. Using the buttons and presets is straightforward too.
There are three manual speed buttons, which work according to expectations. The bonus is its pulse feature, which is an excellent addition to give you the granular control that Indian cooking requires.
Regarding the noise, it’s on par with what you’d expect from a 1000-watt blender (yes, it can get noisy). Moreover, it lacks the capability to set automatic timers, which might be a bummer for some.
But I don’t have any gripe with that when I remember how affordable this blender is. With that said, let’s discuss the forever-despised cleaning bits. To my pleasure, cleaning this blender is surprisingly effortless.
First off, the controls lay flat, meaning I wasn’t picking pieces of food all day. The base is just as easy to clean; it merely needs a wipe-off. The detachable portions come in handy, and even better — the pitchers are dishwasher safe.
I didn’t have to spend an eternity cleaning the pitchers. Speaking of which, the manufacturer uses for these containers, which is no surprise given the blender’s price. It compromises nothing regarding safety, though.
The plastic used here is food-grade and free of BPA. In layman’s terms, it means that you don’t have to worry about any chemicals leaching into your food or harming you in the long run.
What’s more impressive is that this pitcher is a large 72 oz. one (holds 64 oz. liquid at a time). Therefore, you can churn through large batches with ease. The whole blender is reasonably sized, too, measuring 9.5 x 7.5 x 17 inches.
This package even comes with a recipe guide to get the user started! It becomes an easy recommendation for anyone looking to up their curry paste game when I looked at its quality, efficiency, and safety measures.
NutriBullet ZNBF30500Z Blender Combo
Although often overlooked, the build quality of a blender can play a huge role in how it performs. That includes everything from the blade to the jars. This is something my third pick — the Nutribullet ZNBF30500Z — excels at.
Let’s start with that, then. First off, the jars and the pitcher are all made with plastic. But as I said, plastic is fine as long as it’s high-quality. It uses superior BPA-free plastic, which is both durable and healthy.
Therefore, you don’t have to worry about any chemicals leaching into your food. Moreover, the plastic build can be handier than steel, as you can see if your curry paste needs some more work without taking the lid off every time.
The blades perform just as well. NutriBullet’s easy-twist Extractor blades use high-quality stainless steel that retains its sharpness for a long time. The sides are also tapered as a safety measure (without any loss in performance).
“I get it — the build quality is impressive. What else?”
Well, it comes with a robust 1200-watt base, for one. Blending hard vegetables, smoothies, or spices for curry pastes is a breeze with it. Of course, the pitcher plays a crucial part in it, so let’s look at that.
It comes with a large 64 oz. pitcher, which is sufficient for even larger batches than what’s required to make curry paste. The sprouted lid relies on friction for a proper seal, and its removable centerpiece doubles as a 2 oz measuring cup!
There are two single-serve jars as well, measuring 24 and 32 oz. All of these are dishwasher safe, making the cleaning process much more straightforward. My only gripe is that the lid and blade’s edge can be somewhat challenging to reach when cleaning.
The Extractor blade also needs to be separately and manually washed, so keep that in mind. But it’s not too tricky to clean, though. With that said, let’s get to the speed options and their ease of usage.
There are five buttons in terms of speed control. The first one is extract, which squeezes the life out of the ingredients if you want smoothies (that’s a good thing). The next three are your traditional speed options — low, mid, and high.
It provides an impressive dynamic range in speed due to the motor’s capabilities. And if you want more control, the pulse option is your buddy. It turns the blades at their maximum speed when you press the button but stops immediately upon release.
This can be extremely handy for curry pastes, as it’s all about granular control. It’s not limited to pastes, though. Smoothies, soup, butter, pastes — it can handle everything.
All of these buttons are responsive and easy to clean too. With all said and done, you might find two variants of this device in the market. But don’t worry about that; they’re almost identical other than a jar’s carrying handle.
Vitamix E310 Exprorian Professional Blender
All of the options (read, blenders) above can provide excellent results, no doubt. However, what happens when the user requires a bit more control? Pulse blending is good and all, but we need to go up the ladder if that doesn’t suffice.
That’s where the Vitamix E310 changed the game for me. It cost me a fair bit more, sure, but the experience speaks for itself. Let’s start with my favorite property — the variable speed controls.
Doesn’t every blender have speed controls, you ask?
Well, yes… to some extent. But they certainly don’t come close to this one. There are ten speed options on this blender. As you can imagine, this capability gives the user more control than any of the other options.
This allowed me to get the curry paste as fine or as coarse as I wanted. That convenience applies to anything, be it a puree or smoothie. And guess what, it also boasts the pulse feature along with the variable speed.
The controls don’t mean a lot without enough power to drive them, though. It features a 2HP motor to back things up. To no one’s surprise, it worked pretty well for any task I threw at it.
The main pitcher and blades complement this motor just as well. The container is 48 oz., which is ideal for small to medium batches (not large ones, unfortunately). Vitamix uses plastic to produce these containers.
But these aren’t your run-of-the-mill plastic containers. The polycarbonate plastic used here is pretty standard for high-quality professional blenders. So, yes, it’s entirely safe (and even superior to glass in some cases).
No worries about breaking things while still maintaining quality? Sign me up. The lids rely on two tabs that you can clip onto the jar. Furthermore, the removable part in the middle works just as well as sprouts for pouring.
Another benefit of having part this is that I could keep adding more ingredients without taking the lid off. These are also dishwasher-safe, although I didn’t need to rely on that (more on that in a bit).
Then come the blades — tough, laser-cut, military-grade stainless steel. The four sharp blades grind and smoothen everything with ease. Though, it doesn’t allow for blade removal. So, how far does the ease of maintenance go?
Farther than I expected.
It comes with a self-cleaning mechanism. That means all I had to do is drop some soap and warm water and start the blender. Afterward, I left it to work for half a minute or so, and voilà — it cleaned itself up!
The success of this step also depends on the ingredient, to some extent. Expect to spend a bit more time cleaning after crushing sticky foods like butter. Cleaning beneath the blade is more challenging for those.
What surprised me was that it wasn’t nearly as loud as I expected from the motor. And after trying out various things like soup, smoothies, curry pastes, and spreads, I can confidently recommend this blender as a worthy one.
Nutri Ninja BL642 Personal and Countertop Blender
While the powerful and compact blender might work for some users, there’s no substitute for a large container if that’s what you need. Moreover, having some legroom is always better than running short on space.
The introduction probably gave you the idea about my next pick, the BL642 from good old Ninja. First off, the main pitcher is a large-sized 72 oz. one. That alone increases the versatility of the blender.
I could blend not only small batches of curry paste, but also go big with its 64 oz liquid-holding capacity. It was versatile enough to provide me with excellent curry pastes while making the occasional smoothies.
There’s another bonus — it comes with more jars. One is 32 oz (30 oz max), another 24 oz (22 oz max), and the last one being 18 oz (16 oz max). But I didn’t have to worry about the limits, as they all have markings for their capacities.
As expected, there are also markings throughout the containers to help measure the quantity while pouring the ingredients. Moreover, they are top-rack dishwasher-safe, which makes maintenance a breeze.
The jars are made of plastic, and so are their lids. By now, you probably know what they are — food-grade BPA-free plastic that’s entirely safe for you. Hence, no worries on that front.
While the lids are cut out for pouring, you can’t add ingredients through them like the previous blender. With the containers out of the way, let’s get to the base. It comes with a powerful 1200-watt motor with a feature called Auto iQ.
First off, the motor performs just as well as you’d expect it to. That also applies to the noise level (it can get noisy). In my experience, making smoothies, purees, or even curry pastes seemed to be pretty effortless.
It works with the Nutri Ninja Pro extractor blades with six spiraled blades in total. Moreover, there is another blade assembly for other jars. But that’s not all — what makes it unique are the presets with Auto iQ.
Like other products, you get the typical low, medium, and high settings. No surprises there. But there are five more options, including one for puree, one for smoothies, and a few more with varying settings.
This feature automatically determines the necessary power, time, and blending programs depending on the ingredients. It also detects which jar you’re using and shows you the suitable options. Pretty cool, eh?
Now, how about cleaning up the mess? That’s something it does just as well. The main jar is top-rack dishwasher safe, so we’re clear on that aspect. Moreover, the blades are removable, allowing for better cleaning of the edges.
It’s not all sunshine, though. I found it tricky to get the base to sit stiff, as its suction system wasn’t flawless. Moreover, cleaning the fingerprint magnets (AKA control panel) seemed to be a regular chore.
Nevertheless, it’s still a solid contender, although the Auto iQ feature might not be ideal for everyone.
NutriBullet Rx N17-1001 Blender
Belonging to a similar price range as the previous device, we’re now going to look at a product from NutriBullet. If you’re familiar with its lineup, you’ll notice some similarities (and some significant upgrades too).
Firstly, let’s start with the base because this blender is nothing short of a powerhouse. It boasts a 1700-watt (roughly 2.3HP) motor. Although the manufacturer said that it’s a solid smoothie maker, it’s certainly more than that.
This product has enough strength to crush through any task you can throw at it. That includes nuts, tough spices, baby food, and everything in between. There’s another handy feature — it can warm your food with friction heat too.
The pitcher that can handle this amount of power needs to be just as remarkable. The manufacturer calls it the SouperBlast (cheeky), which is 1 liter in size. On the other hand, the jar for smoothies is 30 oz.
Along with the top-rack dishwasher-safe jars, there is a pouring lid and a rim, making things convenient. The blades are removable, and the user has to tightly screw them onto the pitcher (the package includes a tool for that).
Speaking of the blades, we see a significant upgrade here. Two of the four blades are now pointing upward, unlike the rest, giving them an even better performance for crushing and blending things.
Remember how I talked about the heating capabilities? Well, make sure to only use the main pitcher for that, which works with NutriBullet’s new 7-minute heating cycle. Moreover, pouring hot liquids is also a no-no.
Regarding the user experience, it was a bit baffling at first, especially while using the Smart Technology with automatic on/off. Aside from that, there are two automated presets — NutriBlaster and SouperBlaster.
Putting aside the eerie naming scheme, these work pretty well too. All I had to do was pour the ingredients into the pitcher, and the blender determined the required time and speed. And surprise — it worked pretty well!
While these presets are entirely automated, the NutriBlast mode runs for a whole minute. What’s unique (baffling at first) is that the blending automatically started after I put the pitcher onto the base.
Given the ergonomic handle design, this feature is pretty handy. You can then take the pitcher off or switch it off manually to stop blending. But there is a learning curve to this product, and I’ve had to resort to the manual a few times.
The buttons aren’t as straightforward either. For instance, you need to press the front button twice to change it from the crushing smoothie preset to the heating one. But hey, it’s no rocket science, and I figured everything out.
Overall, I was pretty content with it for both Indian cooking and other purposes. The included accessories, a robust base, and helpful presets surely played a role in that.
Blendtec Classic 575 Blender
If you’re someone that blends stuff frequently, cleaning the mess up is probably your least favorite task. At least that’s how I feel. Therefore, I often try to find some of the best blenders for making curry paste that turn that chore into somewhat tolerable.
That’s how I came across my final pick — the Classic 575 from Blendtec — only to realize that it does so much more than that. But we’ll start with the cleaning part anyway. I’ve got one (compound) word for you, self-cleaning.
All I had to do is put a bit of soap and add some warm water to it, and it didn’t even take a whole minute to clean itself. Moreover, it did a decent job of cleaning the blades (given the price tag, it better be able to do that).
Moving onto the containers. The main (and only) pitcher here is called the WildSide+. While wondering what’s up with these naming schemes, I realized that it has a fifth side with a wild angle to help blend frozen ingredients.
The maximum capacity is 90 oz, although the manufacturer suggests you stay within the 36 oz mark. So, not as mind-blowing. The plastic in use is pretty impressive, though — quality BPA-free plastic that poses no risk.
It’s not possible to remove the blade from the jar, though. But the whole thing is dishwasher-safe and supports auto-cleaning, so that’s not a big deal. Moreover, the ventilated lid seemed pretty standard and did its job well.
That said, the Wingtip blades are undoubtedly a big deal. They use durable stainless steel (80% thicker, according to the manufacturer). Moreover, they aren’t sharp enough to cause you any damage (the performance is still excellent).
There are five different speed levels, which gave me enough control to make quality curry pastes. As expected, there’s also a pulse button that you can hold to get short bursts of a controlled blend.
Additionally, the smoothie cycle mode works effectively with, well, smoothies. It provides even better control with the speed runs. There are three available preset periods for them — 50, 60, and 90 seconds.
The default timer is set to 50, and you can increase it manually. These settings allowed me to mix and match everything and get incredible results for smoothies, nut butter, soup, and curry pastes.
The motor accompanies them very well to get these results. There is a 1560-watt motor, which answers the question of how this blender has so much power. Its cable can get a bit messy, but that’s forgivable.
Another unique bit was the spoonula, which is supposed to be a mix between a spoon and spatula. I don’t know about that, but I can say that it helped me get the food out much comfortably, so there’s that.
All in all, this blender worked exceptionally well with versatility. Given that it’s the most expensive product on this list, I would’ve preferred more than one pitcher. Nevertheless, if it’s quality you want, you’ve got it.

Now that you finished reading a bucket-load of reviews, you’re probably asking, ‘how am I supposed to know what’s right for me?’
In this section, we’ll be talking about how you can figure out the most suitable blender. That includes everything ranging from the materials to the controls.

To me, the container of the blender is one of the most crucial elements. That’s not only in terms of the overall user experience. Depending on the material, you might even face health risks. Therefore, it’s essential to pay attention to it.
Generally, you will find three materials for the jug — glass, plastic, or stainless steel. While glass and stainless steel are more common in slightly premium products, plastic ones are common throughout the spectrum.
Glass Jars ARE Important as Well!
Glass doesn’t absorb odors, neither does it leach any chemicals into the food. Therefore, it is an excellent option regarding the health aspects. Moreover, it’s more tolerant to heat and resists scratches effectively.
But it’s not all sunshine, though. You’re more at risk of breaking it in the event of an accident, and its bulkiness does play a role in it.
Overall, glass still remains as a wise option thanks to its non-leaching properties and resistance to scratches and stains. Moreover, you can find dishwasher-safe options too.
Pick Plastic Jars Carefully
Don’t get me wrong — plastic doesn’t inherently mean unsafe and risky. It’s quite the contrary, as many high-quality blenders use plastic jars due to certain benefits.
If you are willing to buy a blender with these babies, all you need to do is look at the material’s quality. That means the material needs to be food-grade, BPA-free (Bisphenol A), and needs to avoid any kind of leaching.
If you’re wondering, BPA is an organic compound that can cause health issues if it enters the body. Therefore, manufacturers need to ensure that the construction method doesn’t contain this element.
With the assurance of safety, plastic jars can be pretty handy. First off, they aren’t as bulky as glass jars and less prone to shattering. Moreover, they’re more affordable, therefore easily replaceable.
While plastic containers are usually dishwasher-safe, you may notice scratches and stains quicker than you would on glass jars.
Stainless steel is quite common for professional environments and can provide an excellent user experience. Like glass, this material is also not as common in cheaper models, which is understandable.
It’s easy to clean, maintain, and it gives your kitchen a classy look. However, it might cause some issues. Minor at best.
As you know, these pastes require constant supervision if you want the perfect blend. Taking the top off the steel jug every now and then and checking can get very tedious, trust me.
If you ask me, I would recommend you to opt for glass. There are no health issues, and you won’t have to peek in every few seconds to see how things are going. Moreover, it’s tried and tested and lasts for a long time with minimal maintenance.

Many jars will have a curved spout, which makes pouring effortless. Otherwise, you’ll soon find yourself cleaning a mess whenever you try to pour something. While this isn’t a massive issue with curry pastes, it still is something you should look for.
How Much Power It Packs?
Sure, buying a blender that packs more power than you need can be called overkill. But it’s not nearly as big an issue as not having enough horsepower behind the wheels blades.
Typically, you can categorize the blenders into four categories —
This category contains immersion blenders with 250 watts or less power.
These products can handle medium workloads (up to 600 watts or so).
These are into the somewhat serious territory, with power up to 800 watts.
This category contains the powerhouses. Blenders with more than 1000 watts up to 1500-1600 watts would fall into this category.
As you may know, making curry paste requires you to blend everything from onions to tough spices. Hence, it’s essential to ensure that you have enough power to get through the task no matter what.
I would recommend staying over the 1000-watt mark, as that should give you enough power. You’ve probably figured out that we picked our picks by taking their power into account.
Now, the less powerful options might be suitable for lighter workloads like making juices, but they aren’t cut out for our purposes. So, try to keep that in mind.

There are a few more things that can improve your experience, such as a timer to have the blender automatically turn off after some time. Another helpful feature is having a preset for particular purposes.
Moreover, many products come with extra features for smoothies, soups, and even butter. Our main purpose here is curry pastes, but that doesn’t mean having the versatility would hurt.
Features like these may not be absolute necessities, but they all play their parts.
Types of Curry Paste Recipes You Can Make
Well, I can’t give you a list of all the recipes here. We’d be here all day. But let’s look at a few examples to get an idea about what the best blenders for making curry paste are capable of.
All of the blenders above can accomplish these tasks, the difference being how they approach it. And you can go wild with your pastes — these are mere examples.
The Burning Red Thai Curry Paste
Don’t worry; it won’t burn your taste buds away. The burning part can only indicate the red color if you so desire. This is a popular one among the curry paste variations, which is why we’re taking a look at it.
The only thing limiting you with ingredients for a curry paste is your imagination. Here are the things I decided to use:
As the main elements, I used red chilies, onion, some garlic cloves, and ginger. We can go as far as we want with the red chilies for something spicy and pungent. Adding some pepper can also improve the flavor.

After that initial period, I like to check things out. From there, it’s possible to add some more water or blend things a bit more if need be.
